Listen To Your Gut

By Jim Fannin

Is there a part of us that is all knowing? Can unseen conditions actually be revealed without conscious awareness?
It is a short par three. There is a long gully running just in front of the green. It will be easy to loft the ball high over the gully and land it softly next to the pin. There will be little bounce since the greens were soaked from a heavy overnight rain.

My caddy agrees with me on the club selection. There is no wind. There is no problem.

Just before execution something inside me says, "Hit it low to the green."

Backing off the shot I question by club selection. My instinct is defying logic.

Unbeknownst to my caddie and I, there is a 30 mph barrage of wind barreling down the gully. As I was commencing to swing this force of nature is 400 yards away.

Hit the shot with logic and my ball is caught in the heavy draft and carried away from my target into an ominous bunker to the left of the green. Hit with intuition and the ball moves safely under the gust on line to the flag.

Is there a part of us that is all knowing? Can unseen conditions actually be revealed without conscious awareness? How do we really know the truth before it happens.

Most of us dismiss it. We explain it away as coincidence. Some of us act as if it doesn't exist.

But it does.

Our conscious mind is contacted through a little discussed communication device called intuition. The descriptions are gut feel, vibes, knowing, six sense, uncanny awareness and psychic energy.

What are the limits of intuition?

Does everyone possess it?

Is it a two-way device?

Why is it sometimes crystal clear?

Why at other times is it a faint whisper spoken with doubt?

Is it always accurate?

They said to go with my first answer on a test in school. The teachers were right.

Some people say what they intuitive feel. They are called psychic.

Others don't say what they intuitive feel. They are afraid they'll look foolish.

All of us have the ability to use this intuitive part of our brain for positive gain.

How many times do you say, "I was just thinking of that."

During the next week, listen to your gut. Record how many times your intuition is correct. Be aware of a power that lies within.

And if your intuition says, "seven iron," pull it from the bag
